Under the direction of the BACO Operations Manager, the Scheduler has ongoing responsibility for Baltimore County transit service evaluation, development of service improvement proposals, route changes, operating schedules, operator work assignments, and related operating documents.   
  • Create routes/schedules for service levels consistent with adopted goals, objectives, and standards.
  • Responds to the Clients requests for new or additional transit services.
  • Uses Trapeze customized scheduling software to perform the following tasks:
    • Develop and periodically operating schedules by service day for all routes.
    • Compile trips into efficient schedules to support economical and productive daily work assignments.
    • Prepare operator work assignments within established parameters.
  • Provides accurate route and schedule information to BACO Operations Manager.
  • Periodically validates route mileage, running times by route segment.
  • Plans and documents special services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of related experience with transit service provider, transportation planning agency, or private sector motor carrier is preferred.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be consistently accurate in handling large amounts of numerical and temporal information; organize work efficiently and productively.
  • Must be able to solve problems through decisive action under pressure.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office/Windows based software applications.
  • Prior experience with customized computerized scheduling software, preferably Trapeze, is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Must be detail oriented and have proven organization skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tactfulness, and diplomacy, and have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
