The Scheduler is responsible for ensuring the highest level of manpower efficiency through effective scheduling of time off and management of work hours in a unionized environment. This position has a major impact on operating costs for the largest work group in the company (bus operators), including efficient scheduling of work time, management of time off and filling runs, coordinating absence reasons with other departments. The Scheduler oversees all technical aspects related to the scheduling computer program and software which includes programming errors or enhancements that may arise, as well as any debugging that needs to take place. This position is also fully cross functional as a Supervisor.
 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for daily and weekly scheduling of operators to include the extra-board to ensure cost efficiencies while meeting service demands and union contractual requirements.
  • Required to maintain the scheduling databases to ensure accurate information is maintained; to include the administration of operator time off and bidding process.
  • Works closely with and in support of bus operators, transit supervisors, and other departments to ensure quality customer service delivery.
  • Coordinates departmental and company goals and objectives with various departments to include Senior Operations Supervisors, Human Resources, Safety & Training, and Maintenance.
  • Assists with establishing procedures and standards for efficient and effective transit operations, enforces applicable laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to the position.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Sound understanding of run time methodology and route scheduling techniques required.
  • Must be detail oriented and computer literate with experience in operating a data base, word-processing software, and spreadsheet software.
  • Must have the ability to work with time constraints and deal with multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn Transdev's operating rules, procedures, routes, schedules and fare structure.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Excellent proofreading, research, communication, organization and interpersonal skills required.
  • Transit Operational experience essential.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
