Job Summary
The APC-Psychiatric and Behavioral Health is an employee of Valley Health System. The scope of practice of any setting is detailed in the practice agreement/practice protocol written for each specific practice site and signed by the NP /PA and the Patient Care Team Physician.

Education
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree as an Advanced Practice Nurse
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree as a Physician Assistant

Experience
At least 3 years' experience as a nurse in an inpatient or outpatient behavioral health care setting or one year experience as an APC in behavioral health.

Certification & Licensures
Certification and Licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Virginia OR eligible for licensing exam with licensing to be completed within 12 weeks of hire. Certification and Licensure as a PA in Virginia, with Certificate of Added Qualification Based on primary state of residency and in accordance with current Virginia Board of Nursing Regulations, must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia with either a Multi-state license, under the Nurse Licensure Compact OR a Single-state license, valid in Virginia only. Successful completion of the credentialing process through the WMC Department of Medical Staff Affairs is required if working at an outpatient program or seeing patients in the hospital. Prescriptive authority required in the State of Virginia. DEA with certification to prescribe Level III and higher. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

Qualifications
Computer skills preferred (i.e. software applications for documentation, data collection and outcome measurement, PowerPoint presentations) Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development. Competent to provide assessment, care and treatment appropriate to the age group of patients served.
