Position Title: Construction (Architecture/Engineering) Support, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate (Undergraduate): $19.00
Overview of Department:
Department of Subways- Infrastructure Capital Construction (ICC) is the NYC Transit construction group. Interns will provide support to field engineers/architects in the construction of structural projects throughout NYC Transit. Students will gain knowledge and experience in building construction from the perspectives of Engineers, Architects, and Construction Managers by learning the design, delivery, and completion processes while becoming familiar with key stakeholders and progress reporting requirements. The intern will have an impact on improving public safety and rider safety.
Responsibilities:
- Support Project Managers in all areas of the construction process
1. attending progress meetings; preparing meeting minutes
2. support in following up with open items found in construction
3. support in assessing project issues found in construction
4. logging and tracking all construction activities
5. preparing field reports and progress photos
5. opportunity to visit field works site - Update support with various documents used by Management (non-construction)
1. finances
2. schedules
3. memorandum writing
4. labor allocations
5. work planning - Attend non-construction meetings, prepare notes, and follow-up on open items.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- General Offices duties (copying, printing, data entry, answering calls, etc)
- Develop non-technical reports and presentations
- Opportunity to learn Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) -SAP based software.
- Additionally, the candidate will be expected to perform other ad hoc duties as required.
Projects:
Candidate will be assisting Architects and Engineers in supporting:
1. Rehabilitation of Emergency Exits
2. Rehabilitation of Tunnel Ventilators
3. Repairs of Structure Defects
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Familiar with blueprints (CADD class experience)
Required Education:
- Matriculated in undergraduate in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA
- Major(s) Preferred: Architecture, Engineering (all disciplines), and Construction Management, or related field.
