COMPENSATION:
$113,172 – $160,206
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the installation of systems, software, and design review of new technology equipment and systems interface for carborne equipment, including retrofit programs for CBTC implementation. The position is also responsible for the maintenance and control of all carborne software and software configuration control documentation. These activities encompass all Portable Test Equipment (PTE), Bench Test Equipment (BTE), and Software Workstations (SWWS) used to fulfill these duties. Supports the design review and implementation of new technologies for the ongoing CBTC programs and MTA Strategic Initiatives such as Track Intrusion Detection Systems and use of carborne AI systems for wayside mapping. Serve as DCE representative with approval authority for CBTC rollout working with MTA C&D and the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for these programs. Support Maintenance Shops and Central Electronics to diagnose and provide corrective actions for carborne software controls and network, and validates and implements software changes to keep all car fleets in state of safe and reliable working order.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in electrical or computer engineering AND fifteen (15) years of experience, of which seven (7) years must be managerial or supervisory.
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. All candidates must have at least seven (7) years of managerial or supervisory
NYS Professional Engineering License Preferred
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience in the rapid transit industry
- Knowledge of new and cutting-edge technology in heavy railcar engineering
- Knowledge in transit vehicle systems and their interface and interactions with new technology wayside equipment
- Thorough understanding of design, testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective action development relative to railcars, control systems, and CBTC Carbone Equipment
- Experience with the NYCT environment, car and wayside equipment, technical document control and engineering
