Veterinary Inventory Manager
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our veterinary team as an Inventory Manager. The Inventory Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic by managing and maintaining our inventory of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. This position requires a combination of administrative skills, inventory management expertise, and a passion for animal care.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all veterinary supplies, medications, including controlled substances, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Conduct regular audits to verify inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and reduce costs.
Procurement and Purchasing:
- Research suppliers and negotiate pricing to obtain the best value for veterinary supplies.
- Place orders for supplies and medications in a timely manner to prevent stockouts.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve any issues with orders, deliveries, or product quality.
- Track orders and shipments to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods.
Quality Control:
- Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
- Verify expiration dates and ensure proper storage of medications and vaccines.
- Identify and report any damaged or expired products for replacement or disposal.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other staff to understand inventory needs and preferences.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure awareness of inventory status and upcoming needs.
- Collaborate with clinic management to develop and implement inventory management policies and procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain organized records of inventory transactions, including receipts, invoices, and inventory counts.
- Generate regular reports on inventory levels, usage trends, and cost analysis.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
Training and Compliance:
- Train staff on proper inventory procedures, including ordering, receiving, and restocking.
- Follow OSHA compliance and DEA protocols.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for handling and storage of veterinary medications and controlled substances.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in veterinary inventory management.
Qualifications:
· Previous Veterinary experience required
· Prior experience in inventory management
· Knowledge of veterinary medications, supplies, and equipment
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
