Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center, located in the Round Rock, TX (a suburb of Austin), is currently seeking a full-time, ER Veterinarian to join our team.

 

OUR PRACTICE

We are an AAHA-accredited, Fear Free Certified, full-service, 24/7 hospital, with dedicated doctors providing high-quality medical care to the companion animal population in Austin and surrounding areas. We provide specialty care in the departments of: Emergency, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Oncology (Medical). We partner with an on-site Cardiologist 2 days a week and have an ultrasound (performed with a sonographer and reviewed by a radiologist) available Monday-Saturday.

WE ARE MOVING TO A NEW FACILITY BUILT TO OUR SPECIFICATIONS IN EARLY 2025 (not far from current location)

 

OUR HOME

The Austin area is home to a wide variety of activities and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. In addition to being home to many technology corporations, Austin is known as "The Live Music Capital of the World", highlighted by a robust restaurant scene, multiple festivals, many outdoor activities, and water sports at the area lakes/rivers. We have mild winters and warm summers, with lots of sun!

 

OUR HOSPITAL:

  • The ONLY ER/Specialty hospital currently Fear Free Certified in the area.
  • Fully equipped with a full range of diagnostic and treatment equipment, including commercial-grade lab diagnostics, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, anesthesia & telemetry.
  • We also provide ultrasound (we have a sonographer and radiologist review available Monday-Saturday) CT, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, rhinoscopy, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and cystoscopy.
  • A core of dedicated specialists in internal medicine, surgery, medical oncology, and a contracted cardiologist.
  • Supportive and helpful relief pool to help with ER Staffing and coverage.
  • An amazing support team to assist our Dr.'s with complex cases.
  • Experienced Medical Director and Manager- we value open communication and want to be supportive of DVM wellness.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build relationships with colleagues, clients, and support staff to ensure a compassionate and collaborative work environment.
  • Motivated to foster a learning environment for colleagues, support staff, and veterinary students visiting the hospital.
  • Triage and facilitate treatment plans for emergency patients.
  • Continue care of specialty patients who are hospitalized overnight and on weekends.
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
  • Provide clear and complete communication to clients and support staff.
  • Communicate with referral partners (verbally and with referral letters)
  • Attend morning rounds to collaborate with specialists on the currently hospitalized patients.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive work culture.
  • Support the hospital's Fear-Free culture and commitment.
