This position sits within the Global Investment department of EssenceMediacom, now the number one leading communications agency worldwide.

The Global Investment Management function has three core objectives:

  • Leading the buying and pricing elements of international and multi-local pitches and managing client cost deliveries and incentive schemes across the Agency client portfolio
  • Managing the proprietary media offer of the Agency in close connection with GroupM, the parent company of WPP media agencies
  • Managing the partnerships with key media vendors worldwide assuring the most competitive conditions for the Agency and our Clients.


Overview of the role: 

  • You will be part of a team responsible for a number of key clients and new business (when required) to ensure effective pricing and accountability in service and product
  • You will need to closely work with senior Global investment personnel and will need to manage key relationships across the globe with Clients, Agency, and GroupM stakeholders as an “investment voice” at various seniority levels

  • You will be contributing to lead key markets for selected Clients, advising and mentoring local investment leaders to achieve success, and sharing global strategy and best practice making sure that it is effectively implemented
  • You will take ownership of your work, presenting this internally and externally to Clients when and as required to become a trusted partner
  • Reports to Global Investment Associate Director


    Specific responsibilities:

  • Ensure we deliver competitive pricing and activation across key markets, meeting key Client investment KPIs and providing competitive offers in new business (when required) with guidance from sr. members of the team

  • This will include contributing to the recommendation of on-going Client pricing strategies and ensuring there is a joined-up approach that everyone owns to realise ambitions

  • Develop or improve existing tracking of year-on-year media buying performance and efficiencies vs. targets using our proprietary tools across all media (emphasis on TV and Digital) while identifying opportunities for value delivery improvements

  • Proactively develop knowledge of how media buying, and performance tracking works and the various methodologies used to track and quantify savings delivery and apply and consider a “learn and share” mentality with your team

  • Support and mentor teams in local markets to ensure they fully understand our commitments, buying measurement methodology and the savings calculation process, in addition to identifying risks and opportunities

  • Present and take ownership of your work with key Clients. Providing analysis and market insights. Establish tactics and roadmaps for problematic territories, sharing and discussing these with sr. members of the team and Client leads

  • Develop a good working relationship with third-party media auditors to ensure smooth operations and a collaborative approach, while challenging their analysis and insights if and where required


    Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • The candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience gained in a global/international investment/accountability role in a media agency or alternatively at a media auditing firm

  • Given the technicality of the job profile, where very precise and quantified outcomes need to be delivered, high-level analytical and IT skills as well as great attention to detail are essential

  • Working with a network of local operators on globally aligned businesses can often present big challenges in terms of collaboration and a certain degree of resilience and patience is therefore required
