Job Overview

The Accountant will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and experience with COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) administration. The Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and efficient COBRA benefit administration. 

Responsibilities: 

Financial Reporting: 

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). 
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. 
  • Generate regular financial reports for management review. 

COBRA Administration: 

  • Oversee the administration of COBRA benefits for eligible employees. 
  • Maintain accurate records of COBRA participants and their benefit elections. 
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure compliance with COBRA regulations and timely communication to qualified beneficiaries. 

General Accounting: 

  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. 
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies. 

Audit Support: 

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during audits. 
  • Implement audit recommendations and process improvements. 

Tax Compliance: 

  • Assist in the preparation of corporate income tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations. 
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations affecting the organization. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency. 
  • Implement improvements to enhance accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is preferred. 
  • Proven experience as an accountant, with knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. 
  • Experience in COBRA administration is required. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Previous experience in auditing and tax preparation. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
