Animal Medical Surgical Center Scottsdale is hiring an experienced, Certified Veterinary Technician to lead our INCREDIBLE Cardiology team!

About You  
Our Lead Veterinary Technicians are responsible for the supervision of the technical staff per department. They are responsible for scheduling appropriate coverage, providing support to team members, mentorship, training, performance evaluations, departmental proven process' and coordinating patient/appointment flow with the support of the Practice Manager.

They oversee the management of appointments, performing patient laboratory tests, treatments and nursing care, admitting and discharging patients, assisting in surgery, performing anesthesia, performing advanced diagnostic imaging such as echocardiograms, client communication and education.
 
 
 
Experience & Skills Requirements:   
  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cardiology veterinary technician
  • CVT/LVT/RVT (preferred)
  • Is self-motivated
  • Has strong communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on client care
  • Possesses strong technical skills
  • Has experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post-operative care 
  • Has experience running diagnostic imaging (Ultrasound, Radiology, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
  • Ethical (diplomatic, courteous, professional)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
  • Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals
  • Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V)
  • Familiarity with the use of ventilators (preferred)
  • Familiar with common cardiac disease, cardiac surgery and post operative care
  • Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care
  • Collect laboratory samples, such as blood, urine, or tissue, for testing
  • Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalyses and blood counts
  • Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning
  • Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment
  • Prepare animals and instruments for surgery
  • Administer medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian
  • Collect and record patients' case histories
 
Role Responsibilities:  
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.  
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.  
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.  
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.  
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.  
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.  
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.  
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
