Redmond Kirkland Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Part-Time Veterinary Client Service Representative to join our team!
Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $18 -$21 / hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. *Experience in veterinary hospital setting required*

Projected Part-Time Work Schedule: Thursday 10a-8p, Friday 10a-8p and EO Saturday 8-4p
Primary Responsibilities:
⦁ Receive telephone and personal callers, screen those that are handled by other staff members and take care of routine calls. The routine calls include those seeking information about veterinary services (“telephone shoppers”). Provide knowledgeable sub-professional advice concerning the care and treatment of animals.
⦁ Check email communications throughout day and respond/save accordingly.
⦁ Follow established hospital policies and procedures in referring clients for immediate treatment of their animals when requests are accompanied by complaints of acute symptoms. Determine nature of injury/illness and attempt to reassure distressed pet owners. Determine whether immunizations/tests are current. Recommend update of necessary immunizations/tests to clients.
⦁ Schedule appointments for the appropriate department after obtaining all necessary data concerning the animal and owner.
⦁ Collect client fees, make change, assist in making count of cash box.
⦁ Perform over-the-counter selling of specialty merchandise comprised of animal grooming aids and sundry veterinary items. Exercise a technical knowledge of products sold and demonstrate salesmanship abilities.
⦁ Assist in the updating of client files; prepare and mail thank you cards and “welcome aboard” cards. Follow-up with clients when clinic records indicate no recent visits; determine whether other veterinary facilities have been used or whether the client still owns the animal(s).
⦁ As required, enter data into the computer system, retrieve and modify stored records. Program includes, but is not limited to, such areas as reminder list of patients for periodic notifications, receipt and/or invoicing to update medical/financial records; accounting to include the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and aging of accounts, income distribution, inventory control, client records, pet records, medical records; word processing to produce letters for general correspondence and special mailings/emailing to clients, etc.
⦁ Daily Cleaning and Sanitation of Clinic Lobby to be done daily. This includes but is not limited to; sweeping; mopping; trash/recycle disposal; disinfecting lobby benches and scale; vacuuming; dusting.
⦁ Knowledge of hospital procedures and operating instructions for making appointments, assembling patient medical records, recording test results, relaying information regarding patient’s condition, and compiling and submitting data on patients treated.
⦁ Knowledge of the spelling and meaning of commonly used terminology of veterinary medicine to accurately record results of tests and file veterinary medical reports according to alpha, numeric or subject matter headings.
⦁ Personal contacts are with animal owners affected by a variety of problems, visitors and other staff members. Considerable tact and diplomacy is required. Must accurately relay owner’s account on the medical complaint(s) of the animal(s) involved to the staff members who will be involved in treating the patient(s).
Requirements:
*Experience in veterinary hospital setting required*
⦁ Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade or GED.
⦁ Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, Client Care Specialist (receptionist) duties, and telephone techniques.
⦁ Demonstrated ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy, use a multiple-line telephone system, and handle cash and other forms of payment.
⦁ Experience assembling patient records, obtaining relevant information from clients, and accurately entering a variety of information in patient records.
⦁ Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
⦁ Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion.
⦁ Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
⦁ A commitment to outstanding client service.
⦁ Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance.
⦁ Ability to stay on task and work energetically for entire shift, sometimes exceeding 10 hours per day.
⦁ Preferred: Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures and general computer skills.
⦁ Preferred: Ability to type 45 words per minute and use a 10-key adding machine.
⦁ Preferred: At least 1 year experience in an office or medical environment, with increasing responsibilities
