Full-time: 4 days a week 7:45am-6:15pm, 2 Saturdays a month
Round Rock, TX
Thrive Round Rock is looking for a Lead Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
The Lead Vet Tech is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating animal health and client education tasks, while supporting the technical team to ensure quality care and efficiency. The role involves performing general technician duties, guiding and evaluating other technicians with the manager, and setting an example for the team. Proficiency in inpatient, outpatient, and surgical technician duties is required. Additionally, the Lead Tech handles basic administrative tasks, including training, scheduling, special projects, and supporting employee management through coaching and evaluations.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Veterinary technician licensure preferred
- At least three years recent experience in a veterinary practice environment with increasing responsibilities
- Demonstrate ability to lead and manage a team
- Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures (e.g., collect samples, draw blood, and administer injections) and properly restrain patients.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision
- Demonstrates the ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion while maintaining a commitment to outstanding client service.
Role Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Directs and assists technicians and keeps them on task in their performance of technical and client-education duties.
- Prepares the technician work schedule and reviews it with management.
- Makes recommendations to the Practice Manager concerning personnel matters. Discusses disciplinary actions needed with the Practice Manager.
- Provides input on employee performance and assists in the evaluation of technicians and assistants
- Serves as liaison between staff and management.
- Coordinates, organizes, and leads, with the help of the Practice Manager, monthly support staff meetings.
- Participate in Pathway Planning meetings and attending seminars that pertain to it.
- Recognizes non-routine or unusual situations and communicates them to the management along with recommended solutions.
- Maintains technical knowledge of products and educates clients and staff on these when needed.
- Oversees completion of technician and assistant daily checklists and weekly maintenance logs.
- Provides far and impartial treatment to each employee regarding scheduling, coaching, and discipline.
- Directs on the job training for technical staff
- Resolves informal employee complaints and helps mediate interpersonal problems amongst the staff.
- Gives prompt attention to request for meetings, repairs, and supplies.
- Inspects the hospital each week and informs the PM of any building maintenance to staff and management as needed
- May be asked to sit in on meetings with vendor representatives to establish or promote a relationship with them.
- Drug log maintenance
Personal Conduct
- Adheres to all hospital policies, standards, and procedures as stated in the employee manual and/or by standard operating procedures.
- Serves as a representative of the hospital, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, patients, and other staff members.
- Demonstrates initiative in everyday duties by seeking other work during down times, assisting other employees, and filling in for other employees as needed.
- Adheres to the posted work schedule. Arrives for work promptly and begins work at the start time. Follows hospital policies for reporting lateness or absences.
- Clocks in and out with time clock at the beginning and end of each day.
- Organizes work are and exercises time management skills to maximize personal efficiency
- Prioritizes tasks and handles multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.

Primary Care: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm
Urgent Care: Monday-Saturday 1pm-10pm
