Elgin Veterinary Hospital located in Elgin, TX is looking for a Full-Time Equine Veterinary Technician to join our growing team!

As a Veterinary Technician you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients. 
  
Role Responsibilities:

 
·         Assist with appointments 
·         Run lab work 
·         Administer treatments: oral, IV, IM, ophthalmic 
·         Prepare medications 
·         Set-up for procedures 
·         Take TPR's 
·         On-call rotation duties 
  
  
Experience & Skills Requirements: 
·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
·         Positive attitude 
·         Must be able to work well independently and as a team 
·         Must have previous equine experience that includes working with equine in a professional environment 
·         Know how to handle racehorses, give injections and apply bandages. 
·         Have a teamwork mindset, be able to anticipate veterinarian needs 
·         Available to work 40+ hours a week, rotating full weekend shifts and some night shifts are a possibility.  
·         Have exceptional dedication to animal care and facility cleanliness 
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement conditions including but not limited to excessive heat/cold temperatures, raining and icy weather conditions
  • Ability to physically stoop or bend
