Senior Tax Accountant

** This position will ideally be based out of our corporate headquarters in Austin, TX and will be hybrid. Individuals need to be willing to commute to Downtown Austin 2 days a week. We will also consider individuals in DFW, San Antonio and Houston for a remote role with some travel for business needs. **
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Corporate Tax Senior to join our team. This role will calculate the quarterly tax provision, prepare tax disclosures and review/prepare tax returns working with external advisors and will assist with other projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Review complex tax returns, including corporation, partnership and multi-state returns prepared by public accounting firm
- Assist with ASC 740 tax provision and tax accounting processes
- Respond to inquiries from the IRS, state, and other tax authorities
- Partner with Finance department to analyze and document income tax accounting matters
- Maintain relevant knowledge of tax laws
- Monitor third -party preparers and consultants’ compliance with budget
- Support the accurate and timely completion of the Quarterly & Annual Tax Provision, and Income Tax Returns
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and preparers on tax strategies and compliance matters
- Assist with special projects, including input and advice on day-to-day tax matters
- Prepare tax payable, provision and valuation allowance account reconciliations
- Establish controls over the tax provision process for SOX compliance
- Other projects as needed
Key Qualifications:
- 3+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax with a focus on corporate and partnership taxation at both federal and state level
- Tax experience at a Public Accounting Firm
- Experience with public company tax disclosures required
- BA/BS degree in Accounting required
- CPA license or CPA candidate preferred
- Ability to efficiently manipulate large amounts of data using Microsoft Excel
- Possess excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with attention to detail
- Experience with public company tax disclosures required
- Ability to consistently communicate with a high-level of emotional intelligence
Desired Qualifications:
- Large company, multi-site retail or healthcare experience
- Masters in Taxation
- Experience working for/with a publicly traded organization
- Workday software experience
