Lead Veterinary Technician – Oncology  
Full-time: Mon-Thursday 
Round Rock, TX

About You
As a Lead Vet Tech, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
 
Role Responsibilities:
The Lead oncology technician will be responsible for encouraging efficient workflow of the department, training a guidance of the the team, oversight of the technician schedule, and working with leadership to develop and maintain hospital and departmental policies.
Oncology technicians perform a variety of animal-health duties and ensure quality pet and client care. They should be proficient in duties including but not limited to: pet parent communication, anesthesia, patient monitoring, venipuncture, patient recovery, and medical math. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of anesthetics, diagnostic imaging, laboratory techniques, and general patient care. They should be able to remain calm during stressful situations
Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Has knowledge of basic veterinary practices
  • Able to appropriately handle animals
  • Able to assist in veterinary medical procedures
  • Recent experience in a veterinary practice
  • Willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
Job Requirements:
  • 3-5 years recent experience as a veterinary technician
  • Prior customer service experience required
  • Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures 
  • Patient care experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Veterinary Technician Credentials (LVT/RVT/CVT) preferred
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
