Starting Salary: $100,000 - $150,000/annum

The Opportunity:

The primary focus of this position is to develop and maintain advanced control applications using DMC3 software on refinery units to improve reliability and profitability.  Work will also include: day to day technical, operating, troubleshooting and optimization advice on DMC and regulatory control applications; implementation of various control projects as required by operational or maintenance; alarm management (include facilitate/participate in Alarm Objective Analysis); involvement in DCS reliability; provide process control related operator training. 

Responsibilities:

  • Working inside and outside in a complex hydrocarbon refining environment.
  • Implement and maintain multivariable process control applications (DMC) on refinery units to meet short-term and long-term refinery operating plans.
  • Provide daily process control support to console operators.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize DMC controllers and regulatory control applications; implement various control projects as per operations and maintenance requests.
  • Identify and capture opportunities for improving the safety, reliability, operability and profitability of the operating area through process control improvements.
  • Facilitate/participate in Alarm Objective Analysis; lead alarm management effort; perform worst actors reduction.
  • Train refinery personnel on the effective use of process control applications and systems.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering; Process Control specialization preferred.
  • Knowledge of multi-variable control technology and refinery processes is required.
  • Strong team-player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • An effective problem solver with a proven ability to manage and execute multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a dynamic plant environment.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and critical thinking skills with focus on safety and risk management.
  • 1 - 10 year experience in an oil and gas industrial plant environment is preferred. We will consider all levels of experience. 
  • Knowledge of/Exposure to Bailey DCS is preferred.
