WORKERS COMP MANAGER

Principle Responsibilities:
- Provide information and act as the Company liaison to explain benefits provided through Workers’ Compensation.
- Maintain close working relationships with plant Health Services, Safety, Human Resources, Operations, and Corporate Risk Management.
- Develop individual medical case management plans for injured employees in conjunction with panel providers.
- Proactively communicate via phone or fax to treating physician prior to scheduled appointments any pertinent information that may impact the treatment plan.
- Coordinate appointments with panel providers. Ensure provider has required documentation, medical reports, diagnostic test results, and/or job description prior to the scheduled examination.
- Coordinate the exchange of information among the Health Services staff, the HR staff and the TPA to avoid errors and/or delays in claims submission/payment.
- Actively monitor employees’ care and progress and interact with appropriate panel providers/treating physicians to ensure understanding of the treatment plan.
- Lead weekly claim reviews of all open cases with a focus on return to work and claim closure/resolution.
- Communicate loss experience and data analysis to Health Services, Safety, and Risk Management to report weekly.
- Assist with continuous quality improvement of Workers’ Compensation claims submission policies, procedures, processes, and programs.
- Consult with corporate risk management on settlement and reserve valuations.
- Make appropriate recommendations on return to work, settlement or other case closure opportunities.
- Initiate permanent placement process once permanent restrictions are assigned
- Assist with developing and distributing claim management and financial reports (ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Maintain accurate workers’ compensation records and reports to comply with federal and state record-keeping requirements.
- Utilize standardized disability guidelines and resources to guide return-to-work timelines and communicate with treating physicians in seeking clarification if the injured employee falls outside anticipated durations.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with employees from all levels of the business as well as with doctors, medical professionals in the community, and company attorneys.
- Schedule, facilitate, and attend specialist appointments when necessary.
- Document all information promptly in the EMR system and maintain a diary.
- Help cover department vacancies when needed, possibilities of weekend coverage, and perform any other duties as assigned
Education: RN or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in occupational health. Commission of Case Management Certification (CCMC-CCM) or American Board of Occupational Health Nursing (ABOHN-CM) Certification, or Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S) preferred.
Special Skills:
- Analytical and mathematical skills required
- Computer proficient
- Ability to use MS Office and web-based programs that manage workers’ compensation
- Knowledge of states worker’s compensation laws
