MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Description
1. Provides Maintenance Systems Management
a. Maintain all production machinery including refrigeration, HVAC, and facility machinery.
b. Work with purchasing to order machinery parts.
c. Complete knowledge of prints and schematics.
d. Oversee repair of valves, pumps, regulators, cylinders and controls.
e. Advise Maintenance Coordinator of replacement machinery or parts and areas to improve the equipment in the facility.
f. Manages maintenance systems associated with high performing manufacturing organizations (Root Cause Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, etc.) while focusing on maximizing plant capacity and minimizing cost.
g. Manages employee utilization and employs work schedule to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency.
2. Effectively Manages Maintenance Staff and Safety
a. Maintain building to promote a safe working environment
b. Manages the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing and follow-up of the work assignment while maintaining documentation.
c. Promotes plant safety performance through administration, enforcement of company and plant policy and procedure and training consistent with company objectives and in compliance with Federal and State agencies.
d. Accountable for providing short and medium term solutions and day-to-day support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
e. Maintain compliance with Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (supplier performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.).
f. Ensures that Preventative Maintenance work orders are completed on-time, correctly, audited, and documented for all equipment.
3. Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and other plant equipment.
a. Installs replacement belts, filters, gears, chains, and valves.
b. Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs.
c. Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement, and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
d. Welds machine components.
e. Performs preventative maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drive chains, etc.
f. Handles installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
g. Resolves all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.
4. Acts as a lead by training, mentoring, scheduling, counseling, and providing guidance to the maintenance team.
a. Provides leadership through effective communication and coaching.
b. Provides assistance and support as needed.
c. Ensures a positive work environment exhibiting the company’s culture of respect for all employees.
d. Motivates, corrects, and challenges personnel with a positive approach.
e. Notifies Maintenance Coordinator when problems arise.
f. Maintains open dialogue with assigned team.
g. When approached with feedback and concerns, resolves them in the most direct and positive way possible.
h. Ensures all company policies are followed.
5. Completes maintenance recordkeeping.
a. Keeps record of all work performed.
b. Updates maintenance history logs and completes required paperwork.
c. Accounts for equipment used for maintenance and repairs.
6. Understands and follows the company GMP policy.
May assume other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: | · Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, business, or a related field preferred · Ten or more years of related maintenance experience · Five or more years of managerial experience · Excellent understanding of maintenance strategies and techniques · Extensive knowledge of technology including trends, opportunities, and products · Must have knowledge and emphasis in mechanical, process waste water, electrical, refrigeration, PLC, fabrication, hydraulic, pneumatics. · Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct projects · Strong ability to instruct and lead and prioritize effectively. · Ability to make quick and decisive decisions; good judgment and common sense required. · Ability to speak, read, and write English · Strong verbal and written communication skills · Bilingual (Spanish) preferred · Presentation skills · Strong math skills · Computer literacy (Ability to use all related hardware and software) · Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS | |
ACTIVITIES: | Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day, ability to lift 50 lbs. |
HEARING: | Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. |
REPETITIVE MOTION: | Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers. |
VISUAL ABILITIES: | Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. |
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: | Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds throughout the day. |
WORKING CONDITIONS: | Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold. Temperatures are frequently below freezing, and employees are expected to remain in these conditions for the majority of their work days. |

- Base salary range of $77,385 - $100,590
