At Envestnet we want to create the ultimate software product for investment professionals that will enable them to transform the precision and efficiency of their back office operations.  Envestnet is seeking a talented and passionate Engineering Manager to join the Wealth Database Engineering team.   This position will report directly to the VP, Database Engineering.  We are located in Seattle, WA and Raleigh, NC.  Opportunity to work from remote office may be available depending on the applicant location.

Database Engineering team is a shared services organization that works across the Envestnet Wealth product development teams.  We support development and application performance.  Our priority is to make the complexity of our backend systems appear to be simple, but bring reliable, effective, performant, and scalable solutions to our engineers.

About the role

As a manager of the DBE team, you will collaborate with other engineering teams for database performance, reliability, platform scoping, SQL development and architecture across multiple teams. You will be responsible for your team’s success.  You will work closely with multiple development teams and release management to deliver automated solutions. You should have an uncanny ability to pinpoint problem areas, and ability to ensure platform quality by driving design tenets across a multi-faceted engineering teams.  You will direct manage a team of 6-8 database engineers that support multiple database technologies and platforms.


 

As the Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Have a minimum of 8 years of experience, including System Engineering, Database Administration, and experience with multiple database platforms such as MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, DB2, and DynamoDB. Preferred experience with database technologies in AWS
  • Have strong experience with infrastructure engineering focused on performance and availability solutions. Preferred experience in creating automation tools for auditing and schema deployment.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management or technical lead role.

  • Collaborate with partners across the organization to drive engineering teams for standardization of database technologies and process.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams to deliver a performant database platform to maximize business benefit.
  • Champion and affect great high-level database systems design, operational excellence, best practices, documentation, high technical standards, tools, platforms, scalability, resiliency, quality and performance.
  • Address bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and encourage risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit.
  • Challenge status quo and drive creativity, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in annual talent, performance and compensation review cycles combined with establishing a mentoring plan for all team members.
  • Have a customer oriented attitude, ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Have a BA/BS Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
