Job Summary:  

Application Engineering Support (AES) is responsible for a range of critical tasks aimed at ensuring smooth and efficient functioning and high availability of Envestnet’s Unified Wealth Management Platform, which encompasses modules such as accounting, model management, trading, billing, financial planning, performance computations, investment research, and reporting. The AES team acts as a crucial bridge between Customer Service, Infrastructure Operations, Operations, and the Development teams, providing valuable feedback and insights to continuously improve platform reliability, functionality, and overall performance. The team is also responsible for problem management and service requests with strong emphasize on meeting Service Level Agreements and collaborating with developers to report and track software bugs.    

We are looking for a talented database professional with focus on PostgreSQL and MySQL and a strong desire to learn complex system and new technologies. As part of the Envestnet AES team, you will be responsible database support in collaboration with our Application Development team. You will collaborate with our SRE teams for maintaining the overall health, performance, and reliability of our databases. You will solve complex database challenges, be a key player in continually improving our databases, work well in a rapidly growing and changing engineering workplace.    

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide advanced technical support for PostgreSQL and MySQL databases, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and resolving complex issues.
  • Actively monitor production for database performance issues and analyze and resolve them.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis to understand data from source systems and provide feedback on other team member’s code and scripts.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas, queries, and stored procedures for maximum efficiency.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the database support team.
  • Develop key automation and monitoring scripts.
  • Participate in on call rotation.
  • Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested.
  • As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk.
 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in a Database Support Engineer/Administrator role, with a focus on PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud platforms preferably in AWS.
  • In-depth knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query writing and optimization.
  • Experience with database monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Hands-on experience with database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.
  • Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.
  • Strong hands-on skills and the ability to drill deep into the complex system design and implementation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Familiarity with MS SQL is advantageous.
