Production Planner

 

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a Production Planner in our Turners Falls, MA office.  This person will be responsible for planning and scheduling manufacturing operations to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders and efficient production of company products within a defined business segment. This position maintains production plans and required inventory levels in a manner that maximizes the effectiveness of company resources and meets sales and profitability objectives.  In addition, it integrates the requirements of all functional departments into the production plan, balancing conflicting priorities and negotiating resolutions.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and communicate production plans and schedules for assigned business segments and their associated manufacturing resources by utilizing computerized resource planning and supplemental information systems.  
  • Evaluate incoming product orders & forecasts. Analyze machine & production rates in order to establish efficient scheduling of products and proper allocation of materials, machine capacity & personnel in order to meet desired production schedules.
  • Analyze & maintain appropriate inventory levels to support internal pull systems.
  • Work closely with Sales to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders, & coordinate requests for priority orders & delivery date improvements with Manufacturing & Purchasing. Assist Sales/Marketing in communication with key accounts, regarding demand, supply & production status.
  • Work with Marketing, R&D, & Engineering in order to integrate new product launches & new business opportunities into the production plan to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Monitor in process production & schedule achievement, & work with Manufacturing to initiate actions necessary to achieve desired production schedule.
  • Work with manufacturing supervision & management to resolve problems affecting production schedules, such as material or personnel shortages. Review & recommend improvements to operational procedures & workflow to reduce lead times for order fulfillment.
  • Analyze statistical data relative to production output in order to assess scheduling & material flow efficiency.
  • Perform other similar duties as responsibilities necessitate or as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (Bachelors preferred) in Management, Operations Management or Engineering and/or a minimum of three years’ experience in production planning and scheduling utilizing ERP/MRP systems (required)
  • APICS CPIM designation (preferred)
  • Superior problem solving, communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Excel and Access
  • Ability to deal effectively with peers and work in teams
