Accounting Manager (Japanese/English Bilingual)
Description
Nissin Ion Equipment USA, Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a bilingual (Japanese/English) Accounting Manager in our North Billerica, MA Office. This position will be responsible for general accounting for our offices in both Massachusetts and Texas.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
General Operation
- Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents and records. Conduct a general review of invoices, journal entries, closing ledgers, remittance information, etc.
- Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable).
- Resolve discrepancies, errors, etc. If there are any, investigate questionable data.
- Perform other general accounting duties as assigned.
- Check and supervise accounting staff’s tasks such as AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliation, etc.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately maintain the company’s financial records and transactions.
- Complete assigned daily ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
- Carefully verify and approve expense reports and business trip reports submitted by employees in our internal system.
- Improve the Accounting System and operations if necessary.
- Manage and handle the company’s budget planning and operation.
- Report to the president and the head office in Japan on the results of monthly financial closing and analysis of actual versus plan(Budget)
- AR management. Tracing of AR overdue. Liaison with the sales department as needed.
Financial closing and Audit
- Report financial statements and other information to the parent company in Japan monthly and quarterly in our internal system.
- Provide auditors with necessary documents and answer their questions during the audit. Provide an overall audit response to EOS review audits and consolidated audits of the head office in Japan. Respond to audit findings.
- Cost accounting. Conducting physical inventory. Analysis and reporting of inventory variances. Also, the inventory of fixed assets.
- Other tasks related to financial closing and audit as requested by the president.
Cash Management
- Manage and handle daily cash management and consider cash plans.
- Maintain bank signers up to date and update them,
- Update online banking users, access settings, and other settings as a system administrator.
- Communicate with online banking providers efficiently when there are issues.
- Implement new services in our online banking systems.
Tax
- Manage and handle tax filing (Federal and State, Sales tax, Business tax, etc.) operations and answer surveys regularly.
- Withholding tax and transfer pricing taxation, etc., as needed
- Tax planning, tax effect accounting
Internal Control
- Establishment of internal control system to prevent fraud
- Negotiation of fees with external vendors for accounting services such as auditing firms
- Responding to internal audits of the head office in Japan and addressing issues raised
Others
- Respond to inquiries and requests from the parent company and financial center
- Other special missions
- Educate staffs
- Preparation of quotes and investigation of actual costs, as needed
- Support internal HR admin work as requested
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related major. CPA or MBA preferred.
- 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
- Proficient in Excel and all other MS Office is required.
- Proficient in QuickBooks is preferred.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; Bilingual in Japanese is required.
- Proficient in Citibank CitiDirect is preferred.
- Excellent deadline management skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from subsidiaries, vendors, and the general public.
- Experience working for a Japanese company is preferred.
- Ability to raise issues proactively and promptly.
- Ability to check and verify the accuracy of work.
The base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 annually.
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.
