POSITION: Staff Accountant

LOCATION: Minneapolis, MN

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented staff accountant to join the accounting team.  The position is critical in ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and support for researching issues.  The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent time management skills, and experience working with a manufacturing company.

 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Performing accounts payable or general accounting duties as assigned
  • Enduring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures related to job responsibilities.
  • Reviewing accounts payable invoices for appropriate documentation, preparing the documentation for processing
  • Entering and uploading accounts payable invoices into processing software and ERP system
  • Maintaining a positive relationship with vendors to research and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Communicating with vendors regarding payment status and providing additional payment information along with any required payment remittances
  • Assisting with the month-end close as required for a timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Documenting and ensuring proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting standards, including compliance with internal controls and all audit requirements
  • Maintaining and updating expense records in the accounting ERP
  • Preparing reports for analysis by collecting and summarizing account information to review the trends
  • Completing special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: 

 

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience.  Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferable for a manufacturing company.   

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Medius Flow or automated invoice processing system and accounting software
  • Experience with ERP systems: SAP, Oracle, Syteline or LN CE preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Maintaining financial controls
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and time-management skills
