Job Description

Position Title:  Planner/Buyer Mill Procurement 

Location: Neenah, WI or Whiting, WI

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Procurement Team as a Planner/Buyer Mill Procurement. This role involves ordering, planning, and scheduling various chemicals for our Whiting, WI mill. The candidate will manage eleven bulk tanks and oversee the backup totes for these tanks, as well as other chemical categories.

Responsibilities
Direct activities to achieve business expectations:

  • Manage and maintain inventory levels for eleven bulk tanks.
  • Oversee backup totes for bulk tanks, including dye fixatives, latex, coating materials, and paper machine chemicals.
  • Purchase drums and bags for various chemicals and materials.
  • Coordinate and schedule the delivery of bulk tank trucks based on tank levels and production schedules.
  • Ensure timely and efficient procurement of all necessary chemicals and materials.
  • Serves as the liaison between internal production planning and outside service providers.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans and programs for cost, quality, and service that ensure efficient coordination and management of the chemical process.
  • Implements a robust inventory control for supplies.
  • Ensures Corporate Financial controls are followed.
  • Working cross-functionally communicating needs and requirements to suppliers.
  • Organize delivery of chemicals to support the shifts in production schedules based on needs and coordinate with traffic delivery and transit documents.
  • Ensure that the production process follows industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing needs.
  • Participate in special projects supporting operations representing procurement and supplier management.
  • Invoice resolution between supplier and mill.
  • Communicate with Item Master to create new item numbers for new chemicals and set up new suppliers.
  • Work with mill to validate Safety Data Sheets with mill.
  • Approval of Freight Bills.
  • Participate in procurement supplier relationship events (Meetings, Quotes, Scorecard) to manage supplier communication and reduce risk.
  • Provide forecasts to supplier.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

 

Drive strategic cost and product initiatives including:

  • Manufacturing footprint optimization opportunities.
  • Supporting product improvement projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Identifying and leading cost-reduction strategic initiatives.
  • Estimate costs and prepare pricing recommendations for new product development process.

 

Qualifications:

Required Education & Skillsets:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, and/or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain role or knowledge of the paper industry and/or converting process.
  • High attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Holistic and proactive approach to project management.
  • Ability to influence change with demonstrated ability to identify and solve complex problems as well as taking new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • Ability to excel working independently and with cross-functional teams. 
  • Self-motivated with high personal drive, receiving minimal guidance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Champion of Process Improvement and Change Management.

Preferred:

  • CPSM, CPIM or APICS certification is a plus.
  • Background in chemical procurement or production tank management.
  • Proficiency in Oracle.
