Position Title: Converting Operator 
Location: Knoxville
Description: Our fast-growing, technologically-driven manufacturing company is seeking a Converting Operator. This position will allow the successful candidate to apply their knowledge, learn new skills, and work as a team in a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role has 2+ years of experience in the manufacturing sector, pays strong attention to detail, and is committed to workplace safety.
 
 
SHIFT: Weekend – Friday – Sunday 5:45 am – 6:15 pm
 
responsibilities:
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment.
  • Perform inspections to ensure the product meets stringent quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret customer drawings, measurements, and tolerances, including blueprints.
  • Produce dimensionally accurate medical or non-medical products.
  • Adjust gear ratios and re-registration within the press.
  • Tracks time and materials used at the press by entering data in the job costing module (SAP).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment per equipment per engineering procedures and ensure maintenance logs are up to date.
  • Operate /monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment. 
  • Load and unload items on the production line, including packaging or un-packaging products.
  • Inspect products for defects and pull items off the line before they proceed further in the production process.
  • Works with manufacturing staff on quality and production-related issues.
  • Possesses the ability to read and understand ruler and traceability records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
  qualifications:
•    High School Diploma/GED
•    Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions
•    Ability to read blueprints and take measurements with a ruler
•    Experience with operating machinery and inspection in a similar function or environment
•    Display knowledge of key areas of the manufacturing process
•    Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general production records and procedures
 
Position Demands  
Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
  • Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
  • Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
  • May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards.
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
  • Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
  • Safety Glasses
  • Protective Gloves when performing specific tasks
  • Hearing Protection, when required
  • Other personal protective equipment as required for specific tasks.
  • Respirator, when required,
While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands:
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Be able to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Perform repetitive tasks.
  • Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
  • Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
  • Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
