Veterinary Assistant

Garden Grove Dog and Cat Hospital is looking for a dependable, motivated, compassionate, experienced Veterinary Assistant for our multi doctor practice in Garden Grove, CA, to join our team. We are a busy hospital with a wide variety of caseload. The veterinary assistant must be someone who enjoys interacting with people as well as animals, and who can communicate effectively and professionally with the doctors, technical staff, and clients.

Essential Job Functions:
- Compassionately restraining animals
- Taking digital radiographs
- Medication and vaccine administration
- Surgical preparation and monitoring
- Drawing blood
- Placing IV catheters
- Hospitalized patient care
- Communicates pertinent information about patients to veterinary technicians, CSR’s, veterinarians and team members.
- Maintains hospital and patient cleanliness using aseptic technique, proper protective equipment, and isolation procedures.
- Help to maintain medical equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the services the hospital provides and the species it treats.
- Ability to communicate with employees and clients in a professional and courteous manner, providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure accuracy of patient care with good record keeping skills.
- This position will require bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary), and standing for long periods of time.
- Demonstrate compassion for our patients and maintain a positive attitude.
Days and Hours: Four shifts per week including three weekday shifts and one weekend shift.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate from $18-20/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
