Description

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, coordination, and facilitation of training and development programs.  They will assist in creating new training materials, Instructor Led Training (ILT), webinars and e-learning content. 

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with support, development, implementation and other management teams to identify and coordinate subject matter experts to develop and deliver educational content.
  • Deliver training programs as needed that are developed for team members and ensure that new employees are provided the tools and information to be successful.
  • Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training,  and e-learning creation.
  • Work to ensure that educational content is delivered to meet multiple learning styles for both local and remote staff.
  • Use Adobe Captivate and Camtasia products to create and edit eLearning and video content.
  • Design and develop eLearning and video content related to software applications and/or internal systems.
  • Edit and update video content for an internal and/or external audience.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on eLearning created by teammates.
  • Facilitate webinars or virtual training sessions.
  • Leverage Tyler’s Learning Management System, Tyler University, as a primary tool to deliver, track and manage various educational tracks and individual progress for Tyler staff.
  • Schedule and coordinate classroom and/or virtual training with– schedule locations, date/time, materials, and attendance.
  • Collect, compile and report results of evaluation, attendance and training data for webinars and instructor/virtual led training.
  • Manage and maintain onboarding for new hire and transition employees, assisting with onboarding schedules, first day training activities, product demonstrations, etc.
  • Organize, develop or source training programs to meet specific training needs.
  • Prepare reports as assigned.
  • Prepare and conduct initial training for any new processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. Degree with at least 3 years related experience in a training environment.
  • Prior public safety industry experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, GoTo suite, WellSaid Labs and additional virtual training and facilitation tools.
  • Prior experience with e-Learning content creation and authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate and Camtasia are preferred. 
  • Experience with instructional design system models such as ADDIE is a plus.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is preferred.
  • Leadership skills to effectively direct employees while in a training class/virtual environment and ability to properly evaluate comprehension and application of subject material.
  • High level of professionalism, team-oriented leader that fostering good morale and inter-departmental collaboration for staff development.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of employees and clients.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary to produce and deliver quality training programs.
  • High-level of effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal plus organization and presentation skills Possess excellent time management skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, technical environment.
  • Some travel required and valid driver’s license required.
