Role Description: We are looking for a Light Team Department Manager to oversee lighting operations in a 24/7 live studio, ensuring efficiency and high standards. You’ll develop policies, coordinate with production teams, and lead senior technicians. This role involves troubleshooting issues, managing equipment records, and staying current with industry trends.
Responsibilities:
  • Lighting Department Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of the lighting department within a 24/7 live studio environment, ensuring seamless and efficient operations while coordinating with studio directors, producers and other technical departments to align lighting strategies with production goals.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance performance and maintain high standards.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Coordinate with studio directors, producers, and other technical departments to align lighting strategies with overall production goals.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support senior lighting technicians and departmental staff, providing leadership, training, and performance evaluations, while fostering a friendly and supportive work environment.
  • Stock Management and Innovation: Plan and manage stock to ensure seamless production, often under tight deadlines, while focusing on delivering the best product through innovation and collaboration with other departments.
  • Compliance and Record Maintenance: Ensure all lighting operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards. Maintain and update departmental records, including equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and operational reports.
  • Issue Resolution and Reporting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex lighting and equipment issues, report to the director in Bucharest on performance and significant issues of the department and stay informed about industry trends and advancements to continually improve operations and equipment.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven Managerial Experience: Demonstrated experience in a managerial role within a live studio or similar environment, with a strong background in lighting operations.
  • Knowledge and Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of studio lighting equipment, control systems, and techniques, combined with strong understanding of safety standards and best practices specific to live studio operations.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of successfully managing teams, including supervising, mentoring, and providing performance feedback and the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Language, Communication and Policy Development: Excellent communication skills, proficient in English, with the ability to report effectively to senior management, collaborate with various departments, and develop and implement policies to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Proactive and Flexible: Highly proactive with a focus on innovation and collaboration, and flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, to support the 24/7 operation of the live studio.

  • Relevant Certification or Degree: Relevant technical certification or degree in lighting design, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
