Position: Maintenance Supervisor – Night Shift 
  
Job Summary: 
  
The maintenance supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This position provides hands-on technical leadership in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting. The supervisor ensures timely completion of work orders, supports production uptime, and enforces Pilgrim’s safety, food safety, and maintenance standards during night shift operations. 
  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities 
  
  • Supervise, assign, and prioritize work for maintenance technicians on night shifts. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment. 
  • Provide first-level PLC troubleshooting support and coordinate with engineering as needed. 
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime. 
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled. 
  • Enforce all safety programs including LOTO, confined space, and hot work permits. 
  • Communicate effectively with production, QA, and day shift leadership. 
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and shift reports. 
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives. 
  
Minimum Requirements: 
  
Experience 
  
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment. 
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations or night shift environments strongly preferred. 
  
Technical Skills: 
  
Mechanical 
  
  • Experience with conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, motors, bearings, chains, belts, and rotating equipment. 
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical failures and perform root-cause analysis. 
  
Hydraulic & Pneumatic 
  
  • Troubleshooting hydraulic power units, cylinders, valves, pumps, hoses, and seals. 
  • Understanding hydraulic schematics and pressure/flow concepts. 
  • Pneumatic systems including actuators, regulators, solenoids, and air systems. 
  
Electrical (Critical Skill) 
  
  • Strong experience with industrial electrical systems (120V–480V) 
  • Experience with motors, VFDs, starters, overloads, relays, sensors, and safety devices. 
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. 
  • Electrical troubleshooting using meters and other diagnostic tools. 
  • Lockout/Tag out (LOTO) compliance and electrical safety practices. 
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety practices. 
  
PLC & Controls (Troubleshooting Level) 
  
  • Basic to intermediate PLC troubleshooting experience. 
  • Identify I/O faults (inputs/outputs). 
  • Trace field devices to PLC signals. 
  • Understand basic ladder logic and control sequences. 
  • Work with maintenance or engineering teams to resolve PLC-related issues. 
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms preferred. 
  
Supervisory & Leadership Skills 
  
  • Lead, assign, and prioritize work for maintenance technicians during the night shift. 
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and breakdown repairs. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills are important. 
  • Coach and develop technicians; enforce standards and accountability. 
  • Effective communication across shifts and departments. 
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and shift reports. 
  
Safety & Compliance 
  
  • Commitment to Pilgrim’s safety culture and food safety standards. 
  • Support preventive maintenance and reliability initiatives. 
  • Enforce GMP, LOTO, and plant safety policies. 
  
Preferred Qualifications 
  
  • Experience in food processing regulated environments. 
  • Experience with boilers, cookers, centrifuges, or process equipment as a plus. 
  
  • Electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills will be a key factor in salary determination.
