Raw Material Buyer
 
 
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Prepared Foods Raw Material Buyer to join our Procurement team here at Pilgrim’s in Greeley, CO! This person will assists the Raw Material Procurement Manager in securing product to meet Prepared Foods production planning requirements. This position works closely with internal and external parties to ensure supply of raw materials is in place to satisfy requirements. This person should be able to deliver efficient, effective, and flexible solutions. And contribute to the creation and implementation of best practices involving policies, processes, and procedures aligned to our vision and strategy to aid and improve operational performance. 
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to ensure raw material supply meets production requirements while optimizing costs
  • Take ownership of any sourcing issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take ownership in events that affect production
  • Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions and provide feedback/drive change with counterparts in finished good planning and procurement
  • Work closely with internal Raw Material planning team and external stakeholders to ensure contingency plans are in place, forecast and facilitate on time deliveries.
  • Design, develop, and implement flexible solutions to aid business efficiency, drive process improvement, add value, overcome issues, and address operational risks
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, projects and new business developments
  • Ensure that professional and consistent raw material purchasing processes are applied across the business
  • Work with Accounting, AP and Procurement team members to address any payment issues are resolved
  • Investigate and implement system enhancement initiatives
  • Take ownership of ensuring business is left with minimum liability and minimal waste of raw materials
  • Ensure strategic and operational information, reports, and metrics are available to share as required
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:  
  • Bachelors degree in animal science, business admin, food science or similar field strongly preferred
  • 5-7 years of industry expereince required
  • Fresh sales or meat sourcing experience required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop positive relationships with suppliers
  • Works well with cross-functional teams
  • High attention to detail and strong organization skills
  • Experience with Excel and SAP or other ERP system is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable making quick, accurate decisions and adapt to change well
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation 
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.
 
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $87,000-$100,000; and
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
