Job Title: 2nd Shift Wastewater Technician 
Department: Wastewater 
Reports to: Ryan Hembrough 
Location: Beardstown, IL
Effective Date: 01/09/2026
Job Status: Full Time                   
FLSA Status: Salaried Non-Exempt
Work Schedule:   Monday to Friday (Weekends as needed, flexibility as needed) 
Time: 2pm-10:30pm
Travel Requirements: 0-5% 

The JBS Pork team is seeking a 2nd Shift Wastewater Technician. Plant operation, water testing, data recording, and computer skill.  Operator will be alert to conditions at all times, record operation in log and communicate with Supervisor and other operation flexible on hours changes if need for plant operation
.
 
Duties/Responsibilities: 
  • Monitor and maintain adequate supply of water in equalization pit; proper amount of air in DAF tank
  • Monitor and nitrate phosphate levels and steam temperature consistency; notify essential personnel when unusual levels occur
  • Clean and sanitize wastewater treatment room, spray, and screens twice per hour with hot water hose
  • Administer and measure chemical usage
  • Attend meetings as scheduled or called
  • Perform various other duties as needed or as assigned
Qualifications:  
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Dependable and enthusiastic
  • Previous experience in Wastewater treatment facility preferred
  • Ability to provide leadership/motivation to engage employees in the business.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office software (word, PowerPoint, excel) skills.
  • Internal applicants must have less than 2 attendance points and no written warnings or suspensions in the last calendar year.
  • Knowledge of our industry is beneficial
  • Basic math and analytical skills
  • Good people skills, ability to work well with others
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to follow instructions and self starter
  • Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.

Education, Experience, Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Bilingual (plus but not required) 
  • Computer skills and knowledge 
Physical Requirements:  
  • Climbing stairs  
  • Frequent visits to production areas, environment consists of: Hot, Cold, Smells, PPE Required.
  • Slippery floors, extreme temperature and loud noises.
