POSITION SUMMARY:  The Process Engineer defines, measures, documents, controls and continuously improves existing and newly created processes and develops control plans with well-defined corrective measures to increase company competitiveness. Additionally, responsible for the identification and control of key sources of process variations to assure peak performance; the development and training of process owners so procedures and controls are well understood when "hand-off" occurs; support of all new product and process initiatives; and the support of all company management goals and objectives to maximize customer satisfaction and company profitability.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Lead process safety and quality initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement in our processes.  Improve processes to increase production efficiency, yield, and reduce cost and variation.
  • Analyze processes using Six Sigma and Lean techniques.
  • Support other teams with idea generation, documentation, drawings and trials.
  • Create control plans that explain key measurement, provide corrective actions and sustain the improvements for all processes.
  • Support operations, industrial engineering and operational excellence through project identification, development and sustainability.
  • Develop and train process owners with methods for continuous improvement and control as new processes are implemented.
  • Direct the design of automated data acquisition systems and plant automation when beneficial for operations.
  • Prepare, train, develop material and conduct process improvement initiatives utilizing lean and continuous improvement tools as part of the Pilgrim’s Management Method;
  • In conjunction with the other members of the Operational Excellence management team, participate of meetings as required;
  • Act on an ad-hoc basis to be part of any other continuous improvement project or initiative as part of the Pilgrim’s Management Method.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS and BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2 - 5 years manufacturing industry experience (preferably in poultry). Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics or related field preferred.
  • Preferred certification as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Facilitator.
  • Project management and analytical skills required.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word.
  • Experience with Minitab or any data analysis software.
  • Experience in AutoCAD preferred.
  • Effective, cooperative spoken and written communication skills.
