The Community Liaison is a full-time Position that will support the integration of new hires into our workforce and community. The Community Liaison will guide new entrants into our workforce, training them on company policies and work practices.  The Liaison will also help them to learn how to live effectively in the Beardstown Community. Community Liaison will act as a community developer, identifying and addressing the needs and concerns of local residents concerning new entrants who may need help establishing in the area. Candidate will work in a variety of ways to promote positive relationships between employees and non-employees residing in Beardstown. Responsible for managing high-level collaborative efforts between the City and JBS, including communications, program management, and regular interaction with students, residents, political figures, businesses, charitable and social organizations, and the media. Candidate will represent JBS Beardstown in during public and community meetings and address questions, concerns and issues from resident, employees and future employees.

Responsibilities:
  •  Recruiting, selecting, training, evaluating and supervising full-time, entry-level staff positions.
  •  Training new hires on how to perform the job, company policies, and practices.
  •  Translating for employees to ensure understanding of key communications.
  •  Advocating for employees, ensuring that their concerns and issues are communicated to management.
  •  Identifying and addressing the housing, medical, and other needs of recent immigrants.  Work with property owners/managers on issues associated with transportation, code enforcement, parking, neighbor relations, and local ordinances
  •  Attending appropriate meetings for the city, neighborhood groups, collaborative task forces, and public forums
  •  Developing and implementing the outreach strategy of JBS Beardstown and bringing interested parties (social services, schools, etc.) together as part of the development of the community
  •  Maintaining and updating all display boards, electronic monitors, paperwork, signage and visual displays at JBS, in accordance with the Policy and Procedures Manual.
  •  Managing and participating in all aspects of the community’s activities to improve work or City relations and neighborhood quality of life issues.
  •  Assists in HR with HR functions
Requirements:
  •  All candidates must be able to work with a diverse population, and have a valid Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  •  Flexibility in workplace days/hours could be required to fulfill job requirements
  •  Willingness to travel as needed
  •  Must be able to communicate with key groups of refugees. Multilingualism would be considered an asset for this position
  •  Ability to work independently, with little supervision
  •  High level of energy and a positive attitude with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  •  Trustworthy and professional
  •  Desirable to be multilingual or able to communicate effectively with a different ethnic groups
  •  Previous HR and recruiting experience preferred
  • Must speak Burmese
Education:
A combination of education, training, and/or experience equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in English, journalism, marketing, public relations or communications or related field
Good understanding about the specific needs of immigrants as they integrate into American society
