POSITION: Assistant Plant Controller 
DEPARTMENT: Accounting 
LOCATION: Beardstown, IL 
SALARY CLASS: Salary-Full Time
HOURS: NEEDS TO BE FLEXIBLE 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist accounting supervisors in supervising and scheduling of  accounting staff 
  • Interviewing and hiring new personnel with supervisors 
  • Review all disciplinary action including warnings and termination 
  • Implement and train staff on new procedures or policies 
  • Ensure full cross training of staff 
 
Financial Reporting and Internal Controls: 
  • Help establish procedures and internal controls for the departments 
  • Regularly review procedures and controls 
  • Verify, with the assistance of the Plant Controller, that the location complies with the Swift & Company Financial Polices. 
  • Review daily and weekly P&L for reasonableness. 
  • Review variances of weekly vs daily P&L’s. 
  • Perform monthly reconciliation between Weekly P&L’s and General Ledger. 
  • Perform post balance sheet reviews after each closing. 
  • Perform analytical review of the balance sheet and earning statement. 
  • Assist the Plant Controller in preparing annual operation budget. 
  • Preparation, Review and Reconciliation of the daily, weekly & monthly Par500 reports. 
 
Special Projects: 
  • Work with the Plant Controller in conducting post audit reviews of all major CER’s 
  • Develop skills in reviewing all CER projects for approval. 
  • Work with the Plant Controller in special projects assigned by Corporate and/or local management. 
  • Prepare orientation/presentation of high-level operational accounting for new production supervisors. 
  • Other duties as assigned 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:                           
  • Bachelor degree in accounting or finance  
  • Three years supervisory experience required   
  • Computer skills 
  • Ten key skills 
  • Ability to read financial statements 
  • Interpersonal communication skills 
  • Math skills 
 
The Applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits: 
Benefits: 
  • Base Salary: $79,417min-$96,492mid
  • Health, Dental, Vision coverage begins after 60 days of employment
