Capital Project Engineer

 

 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Capital Project Engineer for JBS Regional Beef! This person will be responsible for developing and tracking annual Capital, Non-Routine Repairs and Maintenance Budgets for our facilities. This person will work with cross functional teams and lead efforts to invest capital in our facilities to either grow the business, reduce operating costs, and/or improve operability of the site.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review monthly progress of budgets to actual spend to align with the needs of the business and capabilities of equipment vendors to define the project scope.
  • Assist in the development of facility Project Managers to include refrigeration, boilers, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Wastewater.
  • Leverage industry knowledge to minimize capital investment required to meet needs of the business
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements and conducting tests to confirm product performance.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems and prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains project database
  • Maintains product and company regulations by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering strongly preferred
  • 4+ years in a similar position required
  • Experience in the food industry is required as this industry must comply with USDA, HACCP regulations in addition to OSHA, EPA, and state governing agencies
  • Experience manage projects exceeding $1MM capital
  • Experience in Budgeting and Capital Accounting
  • AutoCAD experience required
  • Must be a self starter; individually motivated
  • 75%+ travel to facilities, customers, etc. (travel can include weekend commitments at facilities including both Saturday & Sunday, day and night shifts)
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $140,000-150,000 and
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
