Safety Trainer
Location: Souderton, PA

Position Summary
The Safety Trainer develops, delivers, and continuously improves site safety training to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and build a strong safety culture. This role partners closely with Safety, Operations, Maintenance, and HR to onboard new hires, maintain required certifications, and verify employee competency for safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the site training plan and calendar; identify required regulatory, company, and job-specific training for all roles.
- Develop and deliver engaging instructor-led training (ILT), on-the-job training (OJT), and microlearning; adapt content for multiple shifts and diverse audiences.
- Lead new-hire safety orientation; verify understanding and completion within required time frames.
- Maintain accurate training records (e.g., OSHA, equipment certifications, chemical handling) and generate reports for audits and leadership reviews.
- Coordinate and/or provide equipment-specific training (e.g., PIT/forklift, LOTO, machine guarding, fall protection/loading dock) and proctor written and practical evaluations.
- Support regulatory compliance by aligning training content with OSHA and company policies; update materials as standards change.
- Perform training needs analyses; evaluate training effectiveness using observations, quizzes, skills validations, and KPIs (e.g., incident trends, near misses).
- Coach supervisors and leads on daily safety talks, JSAs, and reinforcement of safe behaviors.
- Assist with incident investigations by addressing training-related root causes and deploying corrective-action training.
- Partner with translation resources to ensure language-accessible training and signage; provide bilingual delivery if qualified.
- Prepare for and support internal/external audits; present training documentation and compliance evidence.
- Champion safety culture initiatives (e.g., Safety Week, toolbox talks, recognition programs) and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Background in Safety, Training & Development, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in safety training, EHS, or industrial training in manufacturing, food processing, or distribution.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards (e.g., 1910 General Industry) and adult learning principles.
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 10/30, Train-the-Trainer for PIT/forklift and LOTO; First Aid/CPR/AED.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills; ability to engage learners with varied experience and language proficiency.
- Proficient with LMS or training trackers and MS Office; capable of producing reports and dashboards.
- Bilingual English/Spanish/Creole preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regularly walk production areas; stand for extended periods; occasionally climb stairs and ladders.
- Lift and move training materials and equipment up to 35 lbs
- Exposure to cold environments, wet/slippery floors, noise, and moving machinery; required PPE provided.
Schedule
Primarily on-site across multiple shifts; occasional early/late hours to cover training on all shifts.
