Natchitoches Pilgrim’s is seeking a dedicated and detailed oriented Sanitation Production hourly team member. In this role, a plant a sanitation worker ensures food production facilities, machinery, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized to meet regulatory standards, (FDA/USDA) and prevent contamination. Your contributions will directly affect the efficiency and productivity to play a key role in delivering a safe product to families. You will work in a fast-paced environment focused on safety, animal welfare, and product quality while supporting continuous improvement through attention to detail and teamwork. Responsibilities:
- Cleaning/Sanitizing: Manually clean or use automated equipment (CIP systems) to sanitize food contact surfaces, production lines, and facility areas.
- Equipment Maintenance: Disassemble, clean, and reassemble production machinery, ensuring all food debris and bacteria are removed.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tag out (LOTO) when working on machinery. Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sanitation procedures, chemical usage, and inspection results.
- Chemical Handling: Safely handle, mix, and store cleaning chemicals, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need:
- Education:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous sanitation or janitorial experience in a food-manufacturing environment is often required.
- Knowledge of GMPs and food safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast- paced environment.
- Skills:
- Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in cleaning to prevent foodborne illness.
- Technical Aptitude: Understanding of sanitation chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Communication: Ability to read and follow written, technical, and verbal instructions.
- Flexibility: Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays, as sanitation often happens when production is stopped
- Strong to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt to changing condition and work under pressure
- A proactive attitude and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Effective communication both orally and in writing, ability to work with minimal supervision
- Physical requirements:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in cold or wet environments.
