Description

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems deployed on private or public cloud platforms. This position will ensure the infrastructures services supporting Tyler’s applications maintain uptime and reliability. Additionally, focus on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and eliminating work through automation using the latest guidelines set by the enterprise security, engineering, and development guidelines. 


Responsibilities

  • Engineer and maintain systems that support core infrastructure services for Tyler’s private cloud.
  • Maintain, migrate and troubleshoot Tyler’s VMware Cloud environment on AWS (VMC).
  • Accountable for backend AWS services related to the support of VMC.
  • Administer and manage Tyler’s public cloud infrastructure leveraging industry leading cloud services including AWS, GCP and Azure.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot and implement technologies.
  • Use automation to streamline manual tasks.
  • Research complex technical problems, formulate recommendations, and build technically sound and scalable solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation on operational tool sets and cross-train personnel on their use and maintenance. 
 

Qualifications

  • College degree with a focus in computer science or related field, or comparable work experience.
  • Five years IT career spanning any of the following: support, development, infrastructure and/or data analytics/dba
  • Strong skills in virtualization technologies like VMware or VMC.
  • Hands on experience with the migration of workloads between environments.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with storage array concepts.
  • Experience with cloud computing like AWS, GCP and Azure.
  • Technology certifications welcomed.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies.
  • Adhere to a strict change control policy, with an eye toward never violating PCI, CJIS, SSAE or other standards-based certifications maintained within the Tyler Environment.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects of varying length and complexity, keeping leadership informed of progress and needs while working and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Handle advanced server, infrastructure, virtualization, and scripting technologies with minimal assistance.
  • Stay educated on the newest IT tools and technologies.
  • Required to undergo and satisfactorily pass a fingerprint background check (for CJIS requirements).
