The Sales Engineer plays a vital role as a technical liaison of Tyler Technologies solutions throughout the sales cycle. As a steward of technical messaging used throughout the sales process, the Sales Engineer directly impacts Tyler’s success. This dynamic position provides technical support and guidance to the sales team through several key responsibilities. Including crafting technical documentation used by sales and request for proposal (RFP) responses. As well as through tailored technology demonstrations partnered with your sales team to highlight aspects of the Tyler solutions that benefit prospects in a technical capacity.

When public safety agencies engage with Tyler Technologies, your role is to help make their work more efficient, cooperative, and impactful for their communities and stakeholders. You help your Tyler Technologies sales counterparts by digging into client’s technical challenges and presenting innovative solutions to our clients.
 

Responsibilities

  • Support sales staff by acting as a technical expert of Tyler’s services and products, including architecture, functionality, setup, maintenance and deployment relative to an on-premises or cloud hosted solution.
  • Create and maintain technical messaging and documentation used throughout the sales process for multiple Tyler products.
  • Develop and deliver technical onsite and remote technical demonstrations and discussions.
  • Analyze and respond to technical requirements in RFPs with accurate and thorough responses.
  • Technical liaison between the sales team and other Tyler departments and divisions including development, professional services, marketing and the cloud services team.
  • Research and stay current on emerging technologies related to Tyler products and provide feedback to management as requested.
  • Maintain technical product knowledge by participating in vertical team meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of cloud computing and general trends within the industry.
  • Familiarity with SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud security as it relates to data and information.
  • Knowledge of AWS services.
  • Familiarity with on-premises IT environments.  Servers, storage, networking, disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of software solutions and supporting technologies such as cloud computing, on-premises infrastructure, operating systems, databases, virtualization, and networking.
  • Exceptional technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to various audiences, including internal, external, technical and non-technical.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% nationally is expected for demonstrations, client and partner engagements as well as conferences.
