Description

Tyler continues to advance its strategic focus on growing transaction‑based revenue, and we are looking for a strategic, detail‑oriented analyst to help in accelerating that momentum. As our Sr. Interchange Strategy Analyst you will partner with VP‑level leaders and cross‑functional teams to recommend and drive initiatives that optimize interchange rates, reduce downgrades, and improve cost-efficiency across Tyler’s portfolio. In this newly created role, you will take the lead in analyzing the financial and operational performance across Tyler’s diverse public-sector payment types. You will research processor data files, merchant statements, pricing scenarios, and industry rules to uncover opportunities that enhance Tyler’s revenue, reduce Tyler’s costs, and improve overall portfolio profitability. This is a high-impact role for a self‑starter who wants to directly influence Tyler’s payment growth trajectory by shaping interchange costs strategy and establishing long‑term best practices.

Responsibilities

Interchange & Fee Optimization
  • Analyze processor files and transaction data to evaluate effective rates, fee optimization opportunities, and margin outcomes.
  • Provide targeted recommendations to optimize interchange costs across Tyler’s portfolio.
  • Monitor downgrade trends and manage qualification factors (Level II, Level III, CEDP). Provide impact assessments and implementation guidance.
  • Assess public‑sector MCC usage across Tyler’s market segments and transaction channels.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert on interchange structures, pricing models, card brand fees, and network rules.
 
Portfolio Performance & Financial Modeling
  • Analyze financial and operational performance across Tyler’s public‑sector payment types. 
  • Provide benchmark guidance by market segment and payment type.
  • Anticipate, evaluate, and model the impact of card‑brand rule changes on portfolio performance.
  • Model revenue and expense impacts for proposed initiatives.
  • Monitor processor revenue streams to identify margin erosion, underpayment, and missed optimization opportunities.
 
Cross‑Functional Strategy & Implementation
  • Partner with VP‑level leaders and cross‑functional Product, Engineering, Finance, and Merchant Services teams to: (1) implement interchange optimization strategies, (2) develop pricing models and cost analyses and (3) support new merchant onboarding best practices
    Interpret processor contracts and Schedule A terms in detail.
  • Reporting, Dashboards & Insights
  • Produce monthly interchange reporting packages for leadership.
    Develop dashboards and command centers to track interchange trends, profitability, and cost drivers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in credit card processing, payment analytics, acquiring industry – or demonstrated success in adjacent field
  • Understanding of interchange structures, interchange discount qualification logic, network rules, card‑brand fees, and acquiring economics.
  • Independent, self‑motivated, curious, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience with processor/IFDA analysis and creating actionable financial recommendations.
  • Familiarity with major processors such as Fiserv, Global Payments, and Chase.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI or similar tools.
  • Fintech experience preferred. Experience working with government merchants, utilities, tax payments, or public-sector entities a plus.
