Description

Tyler Technologies is seeking an Automation Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of mission-critical, cloud-hosted public safety software. This role supports products of moderate to complex scope and plays a key part in delivering reliable, scalable systems used by public safety agencies nationwide.
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing test specifications, developing automated test cases, and building test automation frameworks and tools. You will work closely with software engineers and QA analysts to develop targeted automation for specific application functionality while applying sound QA practices and testing methodologies throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases and test frameworks for cloud-hosted applications.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, QA analysts, and product teams to ensure features have clear and testable acceptance criteria.
  • Execute automated and manual tests across development, integration, regression, and release phases.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with engineering teams to troubleshoot root causes.
  • Maintain and enhance regression test suites to support ongoing product stability.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies to understand requirements and contribute to test strategy and coverage.
  • Promote quality best practices and continuous improvement in test automation and QA processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance or test automation.
  • Hands-on experience developing automated tests using a programming language such as C#.
  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar) and writing basic to intermediate SQL queries.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted or distributed systems.
