Operations and Safety Manager
The Operations and Safety Manager reports directly to the General Manager in fulfilling daily operations including but not limited to route supervision, staff and operator supervision, effective communication with internal and external customers and coaching employees for optimal performance, identifies safety issues, managing the entire operation in the absence of the General Manager, complying with all Company policies and managing the operation within the budgetary plan for the location. This position is based in Winter Park, Colorado.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assures a safe working environment.
- Provides leadership and guidance to develop location and personnel.
- Ensures compliance of all company and contract procedures and policies.
- Supervises the training staff at the location. Responsible for coaching, counseling, hiring, and discipline/termination of employees.
- Coordinates operations personnel selection, recruitment, and training with the General Manager.
- Assesses resource needs, problems, and trends and plans accordingly.
- Satisfies client, corporate, and contractual reporting requirements and needs.
- Coordinates daily transit operations' dispatching, in-service monitoring, and turn-in activities.
- Investigates training and safety problems with drivers and CDL holders; offers solutions.
- Coordinates claims process with Transdev’s vehicle and liability insurance carrier(s) at the location and coordinates with Regional Safety Manager on loss control, claims management responsibilities.
- Is the central point of information and data for safety and training activity at the location, including maintaining data on trainees, licenses, drug and alcohol program (DER).
- Maintains driver, and other safety sensitive employee, qualifications files.
- Other duties as required.
- Travel requirement: 10-15% outside of immediate area
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferred.
- 3 or more years of relevant transit supervisory experience required
- Thorough knowledge of transit system regulations and operations.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant database programs
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details
- Ability to work effectively with labor; may include labor grievances and negotiations
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
