*$1,500 Sign - On Bonus Based on Qualifications*
Transdev, in partnership with the City of San Clemente, is seeking an experienced Automotive, Heavy Truck, and Equipment Mechanic to keep the city’s fleet running safely and reliably. This role is essential to maintaining the vehicles and equipment that serve our community every day. Transdev is proud to offer:
- Competitive compensation package of minimum $34.00 – Maximum $45.00
- $1,500 Sign - On Bonus offered based on experience and qualifications
- $0.25 premium for each ASE held.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles and equipment in accordance with company and industry standards
- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair assigned vehicles and mechanical equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform vehicle upfitting, aftermarket upgrades, and related modifications to ensure systems are properly installed, integrated, and compliant with operational standards.
- Complete road calls and perform on-the-road repairs as needed to restore vehicle functionality and minimize downtime.

- Read and interpret safety documents, blue-prints, schematics, and other mechanical diagrams to accurately diagnose and perform repairs.
- Support coworkers, team members and clients by fostering a collaborative work environment and maintaining professional communication.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years or older
- Must have a High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- Valid drivers’ license with a clean driving record, CDL preferred.
- Must provide own mechanic’s tools required to perform daily maintenance and repair tasks.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications required; Master Technician in Automotive and Heavy Truck lines preferred.
- CARB certification required or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information and collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to accurately type work orders, create purchase orders (POs), and navigate fleet maintenance software systems
- Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
- The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- While most work is performed indoors in a fleet maintenance shop, the role may occasionally require working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk throughout the shop and yard areas, including on uneven or potentially slippery surfaces.
- Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, and reach overhead or below waist level to access tools, parts, and equipment.
- Must be able to work safely in and around high-traffic areas and tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and loud noise commonly found in a fleet maintenance environment.
