Position Overview 
The Operations Manager assists the General Manager in the day-to-day operational oversight of location operations, including Safety and Human Resources. This person is responsible for the Supervises daily activities of all operators and coordinates the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel. Ensuring drivers are mentally and physically prepared for their day. 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Supervise A.M./P.M. sign-in boards to ensure all routes operate on time.
  • Monitor radio communications during route times, ensuring delays are recorded and communicated to the customer. Address accidents or breakdowns appropriately.
  • Monitor operator absences and tardiness, initiating disciplinary actions consistent with company/location policy.
  • Assist operators during and after pullout with questions or issues. Communicate operator concerns or route changes to the customer.
  • Work closely with the customer to meet service requirements and follow up on issues promptly.
  • Assist the Director of Operations in supervising location staff. Communicate job requirements and expectations, monitor performance, and provide coaching and guidance as needed.

  • Proactively solve problems and address human resource issues to promote Transdev as a “Preferred Employer.”
  • Take corrective action with employees who fail to meet company or customer policies and standards, in accordance with the local Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Train to be capable of managing other departments in the event of a vacancy.
  • Ensure all federal, state, local, and company recordkeeping requirements are met in collaboration with the Safety and Training Manager.
  • Maintain the appropriate license to drive a route when necessary.
  • Perform other management directives as assigned to ensure efficient contract and company operations.
  • Manage departmental scheduling to ensure accuracy in daily operations and payroll.
  • Oversee Paratransit operations and reporting for the department.
  • Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION, LICENSING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of operations experience in a fixed-route operation or airport shuttle service of similar size and scope.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant transit supervisory experience required.
 
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Thorough knowledge of basic provincial laws, ordinances, and regulations related to transit operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of transit system staff and operational departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant database programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with labor, including handling labor grievances and participating in negotiations.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays.
  • Travel requirement: <5% travel for occasional meetings
