Business Development and Account Management (interconnect products for minimally invasive medical products)
Business Development position responsible for promoting Sumitomo Electric’s wire products and solutions to strategic customers for our medical business, with focus on invasive medical technologies / products including endoscope, coronary, endovascular catheter applications. This position is responsible for penetrating new strategic accounts for profitable growth.
The Business Development person will report to the Sales GM of Sumitomo Electric USA and will closely work together with the Global engineering and sales teams. Location This position is in either Minnesota or Massachusetts. 
  • Serve as the primary interface between the customer and Sumitomo Electric USA.
  • Drive new sales growth.
  • Work closely with customer’s engineering teams to develop engineered solutions utilizing Sumitomo Electric’s existing technology portfolio and development capabilities.
  • Work closely with customer’s procurement teams to negotiate global opportunities.
  • Ensure program timing is met by fully understanding customer requirements, due dates etc. and managing internal actions to ensure timelines are met.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the assigned accounts to ensure maximum revenue and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships at all levels within the customer to position Sumitomo Electric as a strategic partner to the customer.
  • Effectively communicate with all other team members locally and across regions to promote the business needs of the customer.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness in regard to industry trends and competitive activity within the Medical Device market.
What your background should look like:
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business Administration or Engineering.
  • 10 years sales or more of directly related experience in the Medical Industry.
  • Experience in a business development role supporting engineer design services, OEM manufacturing or other manufacturing component services in the medical device space preferred.
  • Selling minimally invasive medical technologies / products including endoscope, coronary, endovascular catheter.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven skills in developing new business
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross functionally and to influence without direct authority
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and computer skills (i.e. Power Point, Excel, Word).
  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required (up to 50%).
  • Established network of customer contacts within large medical OEM’s is beneficial.
Minimum Position Requirement:

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Valid US Driver’s license.
  • National and International travel will be necessary. 
  • Legal eligibility to work in the USA.
The base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 annually.​
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.​
