$58 – $90,000.00 potential annual salary
Primarily Days - (M-F & Saturdays as needed)

General Summary:
The Safety & Training Manager is responsible for assurance of regulatory compliance to safety, security and training. This includes overseeing and reviewing training, inspections, incident management and follow up, workers’ compensation oversight, recordkeeping, and documentation control. The Safety & Training position will be responsible for the daily and annual site safety, assist with employee training and development, and overall security in and around the facility. Ensuring all safety and security regulations and policies are being followed and carried out. This position will also be overseeing the core Production Training Team.
Essential Functions:
- Identify and anticipate safety and health concerns by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions. Spending 50% of the time on Production Floor and with other departments.
- Assess new equipment and procedures; investigate violations and recommend preventive programs
- Develop safety systems, policies, and procedures, train managers and employees on safe work practices. Counseling managers and employees to enforce plant safety.
- Comply with Federal, State, and Local safety regulations; interpret standards and advise management on required actions
- Perform compliance Audits & assist with compliance program updates; Log and track all compliance training. Vendor Set-up & Compliance
- Report plant safety statistics, Daily, Weekly & Monthly in meetings.
- Participate in all levels in the emergency response effort & Security aspects
- Evaluate newly hired employees to ensure they meet the safety qualifications of the position
- Manage, update and implement all JBS Safety Compliance Programs.
- Participate in PPE (personal protective equipment) auditing and development of new requirements.
- Develop and sustain an effective EAP (Emergency Action Plan).
- First Aid & CPR Certified (will have to obtain)
- Assist and oversee facility grounds keeping (snow removal, salting, other potential safety hazards)
- Be an active member & assist the Safety Committees. Monthly Meetings & daily communication
- Assist with New Hire Orientation, Annual Training and all safety training as identified and needed
- Perform & Enter Employee assessments, details and other plant test results.
- Assess and analyze training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Assist with other Employee affaires and Special Projects as needed for plant and or other Management
- Other duties as assigned as business needs change and develop.
Physical and Environmental:
- Work in damp or cold conditions (35-45 Degrees)
- Activities such as (but not limited to) walking, lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting and turning. (0-50#)
- Constant movements (motions) of the wrists, elbows, hands and fingers are required.
- May be subjected to noise levels higher than 85 decibels, so hearing protection is required to be worn.
- Exposure to food seasonings and additives may be possible.
- Exposure to chemicals may be possible
- Must follow all JBS safety policies and procedures.
- Necessary PPE will be provided and must be wore in the Production areas at all times.
Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ Years in a Safety/ Training Position experience is highly preferred
• LPN would be preferred but not required
• Considerable knowledge of processing operations
• Considerable knowledge of supervisory management practices and principles
• Good People Skills
• Good Written, Verbal and Electronic Communication skills
• Excellent Attendance
• Excellent Computer Skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Primarily Days - but should be able to have flexible schedule when needed
• Travel will be required
• Ability to prepare reports, hold meetings and give presentations
• SAP & Cority knowledge is preferred but not required
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to adapt to surroundings and peers
• Bilingual is preferred.
