Value Added Superintendent 
Job Overview: 
Oversee all areas of Value-Added Room production. Full understanding of daily work schedule, sales needs, crewing, product specifications, customer and plant expectations, scanning of raw materials, importance of make sheet accuracy, and discussing daily goals or objectives with direct Supervisor reports, and employees. Full understanding of the Safety Requirements in the VA room to keep employees attentive to themselves and environment. Able to work with support departments and peers to obtain the best results. This position also requires a very close relationship with the Corporate Sales and Scheduling teams.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 3-5 years background experience in production/operations environment, preferably in the protein industry.
• Knowledge of products and their specifications is essential
• Excellent Communication skills
• Ability to motivate employees and management teams
• Bilingual important, but not mandatory.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Will be required to attend and deliver daily Supervisor meetings. As well, report work schedule to line workers daily as required. 
  • Evaluate production needs from previous day to make necessary schedule/make adjustments. 
  • Handle any employee’s grievance, dispute or problem in most efficient manner possible.  
  • Actively participates in group meetings, line meetings, and supervisory meetings. 
  • Full understanding of packaging materials required by Customer and Corporate.  Film, box, and labeling requirements. 
  • Perform pre-operational procedures to ensure equipment is properly sanitized and in working order. 
  • Verify employees have proper safety equipment, and Supervisors are performing daily safety checks.  
  • Monitor employees are trimming products correctly to meet plant specifications, customer needs, minimize product loss, and obtain daily yield goals. 
  • Verify accuracy in all reporting of tares and transferring of raw materials from inbound loads, fabrication, and offal.  
  • Verify daily the organization of the storage room and carry over items for cleanliness and accuracy in reporting. 
  • Work with the Quality control department to ensure product quality & food safety guidelines are meet. 
  • Work with the training department and Supervisor to evaluate all newly hired employees during their first 90 days of employment. 
  • Assist Supervisors in performing follow-up training on hourly employees as needed. 
  • Directly involved in disciplinary procedures with hourly employees as Supervisors need it. These may range from verbal warnings to terminations. 
  • All other duties assigned by Manager.
