As Director of Operations with the South Carolina State Enterprise within the State and Federal Group of Tyler Technologies (NYSE:TYL), you'll lead the charge in modernizing how South Carolina residents interact with their government—making services more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly. You'll be at the heart of our management team, driving innovation through our statewide Digital Government contract. Your work will directly improve how citizens and businesses access critical services.
 

What You'll Lead

As Director of Operations, you'll guide cross-functional excellence across project management, product development, payment processing, website development, and service support teams. You'll drive strategic growth by partnering directly with state agency leaders to identify opportunities and shape the future of SC digital government services. A key part of your role involves building, mentoring, and inspiring high-performing teams across multiple technology service delivery disciplines. You'll also contribute to business leadership through financial strategy and budgeting as a key succession candidate for General Manager.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and inspire a team of professional technologists and project managers
  • Provide guidance and oversight to teams responsible for key aspects of the business
  • Oversee the implementation of complex digital government websites, products and services
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer service excellence
  • Develop strategies for growth and execute on tactics that will improve effectiveness and accelerate progress toward our mission
  • Develop and manage annual operations budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI
  • Work closely with the Technology and Project Management leadership teams to ensure the effectiveness of resource utilization and project deliverables
  • Meet with government agencies to discuss existing services and new business; create proposals/work orders based on the scope of work
  • Assist the General Manager with compliance reports, presentations, stakeholder meetings in South Carolina and at conferences and tradeshows
  • Coordinate and review security, accessibility, and service satisfaction assessments
  • Ensure contractual SLAs are met for service availability, incident/request resolution, response times, and financial processing accuracy
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the General Manager
  • Some travel may be required
 

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree plus outstanding leadership skills
  • Minimum of 10 years of job-related experience, 3 to 5 years in a leadership role preferred
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and resource management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, including verbal and written abilities
  • Experience delivering technology services to state or local government agencies a plus
  • Experience with PMP, ITIL, Agile methodologies a plus
  • Qualified candidate must be located in or open to relocation to Columbia, South Carolina, or the surrounding area.
