We are seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join the Finance team at Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar. This team member will be responsible for enhancing and managing Recurrent Energy’s strategic forecasting, budgeting, cash management, financial reporting processes, and providing detailed financial analysis for all aspects of the business including reports to Executive Team. This team member will also work closely with the Project Finance team during live transactions that flow directly into our corporate financials. We are looking for someone with intellectual curiosity and high motivation that is ready to partner with various business units to drive profitable business growth. The role is remote in the near term then will be based in Austin, Texas when it is safe to return to the office.


Principal Responsibilities/Key Results Areas

  • Responsible for forecasting, analysis, and maintenance of Recurrent Energy’s 1-year and 5-year plans as well as detailed cash management
  • Lead strategic planning and financial modeling for a broad range of utility scale solar projects
  • Partner with key business unit leaders to help inform strategic planning via detailed understand of all key parts of the development business
  • Partner with the Project Finance team including supporting live transactions and interface with investors/financial institutions
  • Manage the development, preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reports
  • Make recommendations to Executive Team regarding potential improvements to company performance
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly project budget-to-actual variance reports and cash management forecasts
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and related opportunities and risks and offer ideas for improvement
  • Understand, create from scratch, edit, and review solar models in addition to budget models
  • Complete detailed model audits and integrate with stakeholders across the company
  • Develop and maintain the budget model for overhead expenses at departmental levels
  • Consult with business units to identify financial reporting needs and develop ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed
  • Review and analyze preliminary financials during month-end close
  • Assist in project-level financial statement preparation
  • Other projects that drive the business forward

Reporting Relationships & Interactions

  • Manages all aspects of financial planning and analysis
  • Works directly with transaction teams to harvest information, complete analysis, and make recommendations to improve profitability for the company


  • Reports to the Managing Director, Finance
  • Works closely with the Project Finance, Corporate Finance, Development, and Origination teams




Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven successful history of partnering with business units and developing strong relationships
  • Strong track record of utilizing financial knowledge and analysis skills to inform strategic planning, drive projects forward and achieve results
  • Expertise in complex financial reporting and analysis, and translating data into meaningful analysis easily understood and acted upon by the business units
  • Expert financial modeling (Excel) and analysis, research and writing skills
  • Resourceful and comfortable working in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment; this is a transaction-based environment where requirements and deadlines are dictated by deal flow
  • Solid understanding of corporate finance and economic concepts
  • Strong quantitative aptitude with an extremely high level of attention to detail


  • Excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills with the ability to add value through creative input and forward-thinking
  • Ability to succinctly summarize complex issues and opportunities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and juggle competing deadlines effectively, remaining calm under pressure
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint

  • Self-starter that takes pride in optimizing financial models and overall work products
  • Expertise in tax equity modeling including capital accounts, depreciation, and buyouts (preferred)

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in Accounting or Finance required
  • CFA or other qualifications certifications preferred
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis at a fast-paced company
  • Some understanding of Project Finance (debt, tax equity)
  • A complex model test will be required during the interview process
