Position Title:Intern, Risk & Investment Management (RIM) 

Department:Risk & Investment Management 

Reports To:Senior Manager, Risk & Investment Management 

Location:Priority is given to candidates who can work in a flexible hybrid model from one of our offices in Austin or Guelph (Canada).  

  

Position Summary 

Risk & Investment Management (“RIM”) conducts independent projects evaluation to supports investment decision-making globally across the Energy Group.  RIM works with senior management, business development teams and specialized departments to drive sound strategic risk management practices across the Energy Group, setting up projects for success.   

  

This position will be responsible for supporting the RIM Team with key internal and external business partners across the Americas, utilizing a strong collaborative approach, to analyze, assess, and provide sound recommendations around the investment strategy for key projects throughout the Americas. The successful candidate will have a strong learning ability and analytical skills, and possess effective teamwork & communication skills to support RIM’s recommendations to the key stakeholders. 

  

Responsibilities 

  • Support the day-to-day Risk Management activities by completing projects reports and following up status of projects with Development team.
  • To prepare regional energy market analysis to identify risks and uncertainties.
  • Support the RIM’s detailed investment risk report analysis, to work closely with the Business Development and specialized departments including legal, technical, project finance, treasury, accounting & tax and project sales.
  • Support ad hoc risk analysis to support and guide decision making.

Requirements 

  • Minimum studying: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics or Accounting required.
  • Solid work ethic with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal, research and report written skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to summarize and rationalize complex issues and tasks.
  • Highly proactive with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of the work output.
  • Detail-oriented and highly driven to establish high result standards.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel (advanced proficiency required), Word and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in English is a must. Other major languages (such as Spanish, Chinese) would be an advantage.
